Medhufushi Island Resort

Southern Atolls

An unusually lovely island, Medhufushi has gorgeous beaches lapped at gently by a turquoise lagoon. As a resort it's well conceived, with a fantastic main pool area, an overwater restaurant and a popular Werner Lau diving school, a big attraction for the many guests who come to dive in Meemu's pristine waters. It's a popular and affordable midrange choice.

All-inclusive packages make sense here, and include some excursions as well as drinks. Rooms are quite functional but are very pleasant, each enjoying its own sun terrace and a traditional Maldivian undholi (swing chair). As well as divers, the resort is very popular with Chinese guests and those seeking quiet romance. In the evenings the Vilu Bar is the main place to hang out, and there are regular bodu beru (traditional Maldivian drumming) performances.
