Hulhule Island Hotel

Male

This smart but fantastically overpriced hotel is nevertheless popular with people transiting between the airport and resorts. It’s mainly notable as the only place near Male that serves alcohol, for which expats in the capital frequently make the pilgrimage across the lagoon. There's a lovely pool and a good restaurant and the bar is open 24 hours a day.

There’s a dedicated though irregular ferry service from Male run by the hotel, but it’s usually faster to take the airport ferry and then walk from there to the hotel.
