This dependable stalwart ('Lietuva' in Soviet times) on a quiet tree-lined street was undergoing a much-needed facelift at research time. Rooms are plain but well fitted out, and time-worn features (such as the sculpted-stone balconies and hefty wooden turnstile leading into the moulded-ceilinged lobby) enhance its charm. Friendly service and buffet breakfast included.
