Hotel Al Bustan

Lebanon

The grande dame of Beit Mery's hotels, this is an excellent choice during the Al Bustan Festival as many concerts are performed here. Though ugly from outside and in need of a refurbishment, it is well maintained and offers extensive grounds with wonderful views over Beirut and the Mediterranean. A luxurious modern spa-hammam occupies a charmingly repurposed stone house in the garden.

Standard rooms are spacious, with enclosed balconies and work desks, and are arguably better than the much pricier two-room junior suites. Common areas and facilities include an Italian restaurant, three bars, dining terrace, children's playground and fitness room. Breakfast costs an extra US$16.50.
