Almayass is one of a number of classy Armenian restaurants in Beirut. Since its founding in 1996, the restaurant has opened franchises throughout the Middle East. The food remains excellent and the atmosphere old-school fancy – jackets, please, gentlemen – especially when the guitarist comes by to serenade you with adapted Fairuz ditties. For a crunchy thrill, order the songbirds grilled whole.
As with many mezze restaurants, there are a lot of options here to satisfy vegetarians.
