Don't be put off by the hammer-and-sickle flag out front, as this little guesthouse on the main strip has a friendly old owner. Bamboo-walled rooms are cleanly presented with TV, bathroom and tasteful fittings. Better still is the river-view bakery just across the street (open from 6.30am to 10pm) for fresh muffins, croissants, sandwiches and delicious shakes and coffee.
