Built to resemble an old Kuwaiti villa, Assaha is an atmospheric place to eat. The stone arches, snugs, majlis (reception room) area, tiled floors and antiques provide an experience that's hard to find in the modern Gulf. The food's impressive too, with top mezze, grilled meats and seafood, salads, and even Iraqi specialities. It's just across the corniche near Le Royal hotel.
It's hugely popular on weekends, when locals come for the very reasonable Middle Eastern breakfast buffet (KD3.25).
