Summer in Japan is synonymous with kakigōri, shaved ice topped with colorful syrups and sweetened condensed milk. So popular is Himitsu-dō, however, that a queue can form even in the dead of winter. One of the secrets to its success is natural ice harvested from frozen-over waters in Tochigi Prefecture; another is its rotating selection of over 100 flavours.
