Toyoko's Akita hotel connects to the station, so there's no danger of getting lost if you're arriving by train. It can feel a little like rush hour at times, especially at breakfast, but the staff are well equipped to handle the pressure and the rooms are decent for the very reasonable price. Higher floors have nice views.
