Kaneyoshi Ryokan

Osaka

In business for nearly a century right by Dōtombori, Kaneyoshi's current (1980s) building feels a bit dated, but it's offset by eager-to-please staff, clean, comfy tatami (tightly woven floor matting) rooms with private bathrooms and a simple common bath on the top (6th) floor. Although it's in the nightlife district, doors close at 1am. Riverside rooms are excellent value.
