Family owned Chidoritei is a snug little sushi restaurant tucked away in the backstreets of Gion away from the bustle. It's a great place to try delicious traditional Kyoto saba-zushi – mackerel hand pressed into lightly vinegared rice and wrapped in konbu (a type of seaweed). In summer, the speciality here is conger-eel sushi.
