Established in 1890 and lovingly maintained, Fukuzumirō embodies the aesthetics and spirit of a traditional inn. There's intricately carved, original woodwork throughout (look out for the lucky bats). Thoughtfully prepared seasonal meals, which include vegetarian and gluten-free options, are served in-room. Facilities, including onsen baths of stone and pine, are shared.
Each of the 17 rooms has its own design; some have terraces over-looking the rushing Haya-kawa, though it was the quiet garden-facing room that was a a favourite of Nobel Prize–winning author Kawabata Yasunari.
Fukuzumirō is in Tōnosawa, which neighbours Hakone-Yumoto. Shuttle bus 'C' from Hakone-Yumoto Station stops in front of the inn.
