From its hilltop perch, this historic five-star hotel has captivating views of the valley below and hills beyond. This has been a local landmark since the late 19th century, and it continues to impress over 140 years later with its frescoed public rooms, impeccably decorated bedrooms, à la carte restaurant and helpful multilingual staff. But the most special part of this hotel is the subterranean fitness center, where guests can swim directly over Etruscan ruins, visible through glass on the floor of the pool. Breakfast is served daily in the restaurant space on the main floor. The spread is large and varied, from pastries and fruit to eggs, bacon and cured meats.
