The Bertelli family has lived in San Gimignano since 1779, and its current patriarch is fiercely proud of both his heritage and his sandwiches. Salami, cheese, bread and wine are sourced from local artisan producers and is sold in generous portions in a determinedly ungentrified space with marble work surfaces, wooden shelves and curious agricultural implements dangling from stone walls.
