Surfer Joe

Livorno

American burgers, onion rings, pancakes and all-day breakfasts are cooked up at this 1950s-styled surf bar and American diner adjoining Livorno's aquarium on the seafront. The huge shaded terrace licked by the sea breeze is a favourite family hangout and come dark, a younger crowd flocks here for DJ and jam sessions, concerts and hip surf-music happenings.

Out of season, Surfer Joe only cooks up dinner and late-night drinks at weekends; weekdays, the place is shut up by 6pm.
