Pastamadre restaurant entrance

Pastamadre

Milan

Named after the natural yeast base used by master pastry chefs for more than a century, this Sicilian bakery and restaurant makes a powerful statement about simple, good food. Order organic breads, croissants and puff-pastries stuffed with strawberry frangipane (pastry) from a bar made of wooden boxes beneath a ceiling of cardboard tubes. Lunch means housemade pasta dressed in Sicilian sauces such as stewed octopus.
