Trattoria Da Teo

Trastevere & Gianicolo

One of Rome's classic trattorias, Da Teo buzzes with locals tucking into steaming platefuls of Roman standards as well as seasonal specials built around products such as artichokes, zucchini flowers, puntarelle (a type of chicory), truffles, porcini mushrooms and fragoline di bosco (wild strawberries). There's more seafood on the menu here than is usual, which comes as a nice change.

In warm weather dine alfresco at one of the much-coveted tables on the low-key piazza. The wise-cracking servers are a delight as are the cookies served at the end of the meal.
