Pasticceria Valzani

Trastevere & Gianicolo

The speciality of this glorious, stuck-in-time cake shop, opened in 1925 and not redecorated since, is the legendary Sachertorte, the favourite cake of Roman film director Nanni Moretti (The Son's Room et al). But there are also chocolate-covered mostaccioli (biscuits), Roman pangiallo (honey, nuts and dried fruit; typical for Christmas), Roman torrone (nougat) and savoury arancini (rice balls).
