San Siro Stadium wasn't designed to hold the entire population of Milan, but on a Sunday afternoon amid 80,000 football-mad citizens it can certainly feel like it. The city's two clubs, AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano (aka Inter), play on alternate weeks from September to May. You can buy match tickets on the clubs' websites (www.acmilan.com and www.inter.it).

Guided tours will take you behind the scenes to the players' locker rooms and include a visit to the San Siro Museum, a shrine of memorabilia.
