Botanica Lab

Bologna

Bologna's first plant-based bistro sits defiantly in the heart of ragú wonderland just off Piazza Maggiore. Vegan or not, it's a wonderful place for a respite from the rich recipes of traditional Bolognese cuisine, a culinary detox fuelled by clean, fresh seasonal dishes like salt-crust-baked beetroot or braised pumpkin with chicory, pomegranate and roasted peanut salad.

The menu changes every week or so. For cheaper vegan treats, check out the new Botanica Lab Café on Via de' Toschi in the Quadrilatero (mains €4 to €10).
