About as close as you can stay to Ravello's 'millionaires' row' without being a millionaire, the Toro has been a hotel since the late 19th-century; the Dutch artist MC Escher stayed in room 6 and was possibly inspired by the dizzily patterned tiles. Slightly dated rooms are decked out in traditional Amalfi style, with terracotta or marble tiles and cream furnishings.
It's located just off Piazza del Duomo within easy range of the clanging cathedral bells. The walled garden is a delightful place to sip your sundowner.
