Dining at Max's is like dining in the stately home of an aristocratic friend – a room stuffed with art, statuettes, rich carpets and literary tomes. Not that it's supposed to deflect your attention from the food, which is equally creative. Admire (and then eat) courgette flowers stuffed with ricotta and salmon, or – a real highlight – the four-pasta taster dish.
Cooking courses are available in summer. Times and prices vary. Check the website for details.
