This mammoth hostel is one of the best places to meet other travellers, and it has some of the cleanest and best-kept budget rooms. It offers excellent suites for couples or families with bathrooms, kitchenettes and TVs; it also operates tours in town and around Israel. The dining hall doubles as a venue for (often loud) live bands and comedy.
Staff are friendly, multicultural and multilingual (we met Palestinian and Swiss receptionists).
Set in a building that was once run by a telecom company, it consists of four floors, a large reception and a rooftop terrace where you can do your laundry or laze around on sofas with a beer. A massive boost to Tel Aviv tourism, the Abraham Hostel was founded by Maoz Inon, owner of its Jerusalem branch as well as Nazareth’s Fauzi Azar Inn. Inon’s philosophy is clear – bring travellers back to the Middle East and create world peace. Simple.
