Reached by a long, winding driveway through the forested 265-hectare estate, 1km northeast of town, storybook Kinnitty Castle was built in the 13th century, and extensively renovated in neo-Gothic style in 1811. Its 37 superbly atmospheric rooms have period furnishings such as cast-iron roll-top baths; there's a dungeon bar-restaurant, gourmet weekend-only restaurant, and a library bar with antiquarian tomes.
