Scholars Townhouse Hotel

Top choice in Counties Meath, Louth, Cavan & Monaghan

This former monastery dates from 1867 and was revamped as a family-owned hotel and restaurant. Despite the 16 rooms being on the small side, some have four-poster beds and there's nothing monastic about the facilities, which include an atmospheric bar and a superb restaurant (mains €18 to €32; bookings recommended). The central location is ideal for exploring the town.
