This ultra-simple, 40-year-old adobe house has just two thick-walled rooms, one adorned with embroidery on old rice sacks and the other with decor ingeniously fashioned from recycled plastic bottles. You'll sleep on clean floor mats; the toilet is across the classic, desert-style courtyard. A two-minute walk takes you past ruined buildings into the beautiful date-palm groves.
There's no shower, just a cold-water basin. Basic breakfast and tea is included; dinner is extra, by arrangement. In summer extra bed spaces may be possible in the open-air yard.
The family owners live in a separate, brick-walled compound beyond the unfinished 'Desert Camp' as you walk east, away from the mosque, towards the palm groves.
