Three comfortable sleep-on-the-floor rooms (sharing a decent indoor bathroom) form a sweet little lodge run by the village council as a self-help cooperative. There's little that's overtly 'eco' other than the homemade butter at breakfast, but it's a charming, great-value place close to the Mashhad Hwy in a village with lots of minor attractions. Call ahead (in Farsi).
Zafaraniyeh is 37km east of Sabzevar, from which there's a daily minibus (IR20,000, one hour) at 1pm. Sabzevar–Mashhad buses can drop you beside the highway, just 500m from the lodge.
