Salari Studio

Top choice in Southeastern Iran

In an underlit, one-room cavern, beret-sporting artist Mehdi Salari creates beautiful calligraphic paintings that are sold mainly to exclusive Tehran dealers. Even if you can't afford the US$500-plus for one of his masterpieces, you'll likely be welcomed in to peruse the collection, perhaps over a cup of herbal tea.

The studio faces the old madraseh just west of the Masjed-e Jameh.
