Halfway between Sangla and Chitkul, the Rupin View makes an ideal meal stop if you've got your own wheels, less for the fairly standard food than for the very fine views across the valley to snow-dappled rocky peaks. It's at Rakchham, whose beautifully carved, traditional wooden temple (rebuilt 2006) is just a two-minute stroll from the hotel.
If you decide to stay, the acceptable rooms (around ₹2000) are a little nicer than the dreary corridors might suggest and come with mini-balconies with lovely views.
