Roopangarh Fort

Eastern Rajasthan

About 25km north of Kishangarh, Roopangarh Fort has been converted into an evocative hotel. Rooms are large, and decorated with lots of traditional furniture. The hotel can arrange village tours, birdwatching, and camel, horse or 4WD safaris, and if you stay here you can view the maharaja’s private collection of miniatures. The fort itself is well endowed with fine paintings.

Roopangarh was the capital of this province for about 100 years and was never conquered, despite being repeatedly attacked by its neighbouring states. The fort was founded in 1653 by Maharaja Roop Singh. The hotel can arrange a taxi from Kishangarh train station.
