Mumbai (Bombay)

Visually this place is stunning, with water pouring from the hands of a towering Japanese goddess into lotus ponds which reflect shimmering light on the walls. It’s totally over the top, but the drinks and the Asian-fusion dishes (₹580 to ₹915) are excellent.

By 10.30pm or so on weekends (retro on Friday, commercial mix on Saturday) and Wednesdays (salsa), it morphs into more of a club.
