Húsadalur – Volcano Huts Þórsmörk

The South

Busy Volcano Huts Þórsmörk fills the Húsadalur area with basic dorm-style huts, private rooms, five-person cottages (sleeping-bag accommodation with kitchenettes, linen costs 3000kr), a campground and heated glamping units (with made-up double beds), all share bathrooms and sauna. There's a cooking area, but you must bring your own stove and utensils.

The good restaurant (breakfast/lunch/dinner 2300/2700/4500kr) offers a lunch of soup, fresh bread, coffee and cake, and a buffet dinner, and has wi-fi. It also sells trail maps and has a small shop with camping supplies and adventure gear. There's also a bar with beer on tap (it's the only place in Þórsmörk to get a pint). Amphibious buses from Reykjavík stop here.
