Budapest’s first hostel (then known as the Back-Pack Guesthouse), the Shantee has added two floors to its colourful suburban 'villa' in south Buda. It's all good and the fun (and sleeping bodies in high season) spills out into a lovely back garden, with hammocks, a yurt and a gazebo. Two of the five doubles are en suite.
The upbeat attitude of friendly, much-travelled owner-manager Attila and his staff seems to permeate the place, and the welcome is always warm. There's a full equipped kitchen, laundry costs 1800Ft and bikes and longboards each rent for 3000Ft a day.
