As luxurious as it is wild and remote, this ecologically outfitted retreat is at Patzisotz, a secluded bay just east of Santa Cruz around a rocky cliff. Four thatched-roof cabins are elegantly constructed of locally forested wood with Asian influences. Each features a porch and upper deck overlooking the lake, mosquito-netted beds and open-air bathrooms with rain showers.
The old coffee plantation is the creation of North American owners Kat and Steve, the latter a former guide and chef who prepares delectable meals using produce from the resort's garden. Meals are brought to your cabin or served in the stunning dining room/clubhouse, in front of which stands a wood-fired hot tub. Lanchas will drop you at the dock (Q10 from Santa Cruz).
