Hotel Convento Santa Catalina

Antigua

This impressively restored property echoes Antigua's past: the city's signature arch is outside the front door, built for the nuns of the convent the hotel now occupies. Though the front colonial section has more panache, the modern addition is quieter, with picture windows facing the old convent walls across a lawn; rooms in this section have good kitchenettes.

The restaurant has lively music at weekends.
