This working farm offers an immersion in the traditional Cretan way of life. Its attractive villas, laid out like a small village, have elegantly rustic rooms featuring beamed ceilings, stone walls and fireplaces as well as kitchenettes. Three-night minimum stay. The restaurant serves Cretan dishes prepared with farm-foraged ingredients, and there's a delightful program of daily activities (included in rates).

Activities range from guided hikes to the mountains and villages, cooking classes and cheese- and bread-making workshops to birdwatching and botanical walks, plus donkey rides for the kids. The farm also provides excellent hiking maps if you want to go solo, and offers free bike hire and recommended cycling trails. Be sure to allow time to laze by the luxurious infinity pool.

Nonguests are welcome to visit the farm and its small museum, and its restaurant is highly recommended. Book ahead.
