Hee Tai Inn

Nuku Hiva

Hee Tai Inn has the eight tidiest rooms in town, all in a plain but comfortable motel-like building at the back of a garden teeming with endemic plants. The real draw here, however, is the owner, Rose Corser, an American woman who has spent decades learning and teaching others about all things Marquesan, from art history to botany.

Like all great characters, Rose has lots of opinions and if you stay here you will most probably hear them. Ask for the upstairs rooms which have views over the bay. The on-site, seaside Hee Tai Restaurant focuses on Marquesan specialties and is a real plus. The demi-pension plan of breakfast and dinner costs 3500 CFP per person.
