This unashamedly retro bar-brasserie in maroon and gold trim has been here since 1889. The left-hand entrance panel reads ‘vin blanc’; the right, ‘vin rouge’. But you needn’t pick a side with such a large wine list to choose from. Sip the house speciality, quinquina, a powerful fortified wine flavoured with cinchona bark (the source of quinine, the anti-malarial treatment).
