Once a 15th-century Augustinian convent – the magnificent stone-vaulted lobby makes visible use of an earlier, 12th-century chapel – this charismatic hotel has volumes of history. Martin Luther even stayed here after his excommunication. Sadly, there’s not so much heritage to be found in the modern rooms, though pricier suites have antique furniture and private terraces beneath the bell tower.
