On the shores of one of the region’s most beautiful lakes, 3.5km northeast of the Lemmenjoki turn-off from Rd 955, this remote wilderness lodge has colourful rooms (some with kitchenettes), rental equipment including skis, canoes and kayaks, and a flexible attitude that makes staying here a delight. Lunch is available for €18; a three-course evening meal is €29.

There’s a great wood-burning sauna with an outdoor hot tub that’s the place to be in winter. You can arrange return transport from Inari (€62) or Ivalo (€130).
