Directly opposite the scenic railway station, this resort has 35 new, simple-but-nice-and-roomy hotel rooms. Several have interconnecting doors and convert to family rooms. The restaurant (mains $25 to $50) is recommended and is often busy with dining escapees from the Shangri-La.

The complimentary South Pacific dance show on Friday and Sunday evenings is popular. In the landscaped grounds is a purpose-built cultural centre showcasing a collection of traditionally built huts and bures, pottery, masi (bark cloth) and carvings (one-hour guided tour $20 per person between 9.30am and 4pm).
