This mammoth Intercontinental-run resort is a conglomeration of slate-grey buildings, somewhat at odds with the tropical land- and seascape, occupying a prime piece of real estate on the beach. The 266 rooms and 91 suites are beautifully appointed and equipped, with spa baths on each balcony. The three indoor/outdoor restaurants all offer sunset views along with an occasional howling trade wind.
The attached 18-hole golf course is spruiked as the finest in the southern hemisphere – a sentiment echoed by golfers we met who’d played it.
