Built in 1872, the one-time summer residence of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland is a local landmark. Many of the 46 rooms in the main building and neighbouring town house overlook the beach; some have four-poster beds and spa baths. Its Victorian-style real-ale pub, drawing room serving high tea, and brasserie are excellent. Book well ahead at peak times.
