With its deer antlers, hunting prints and big wood-burning stove, multi-award-winning Woods is Exmoor to its core. No surprise then to find menus with full-bodied flavours: expect confit leg of guinea fowl, slow-roast lamb shoulder, and asparagus and wild garlic risotto. Book ahead.
The bar menu (£7 to £13, served between 6pm and 9.30pm) is simpler stuff – think steak, omelette Arnold Bennett (a fluffy omelette with smoked haddock), lamburgers, and fish and chips.
