Tucked away on pretty Hillgate St, Mazi offers a modern take on Greek cuisine, with a lively, seasonally updated menu that encourages sharing (mazi means 'together'). The interior is bright and neat, and there's a small back garden (open April to October) and an all-Greek wine list (plus £10 cocktails). It's small and popular, so reservations are important.
The shredded lamb shoulder fricassee with avgolemono (egg and lemon) sauce or the grilled octopus with herb potato salad and olive tapenade is an excellent selection.
