Casa Mazeta Hostal

Top choice in Western El Salvador

Mazeta is a wonderful small hostel overseen by English owners who have decorated the converted home with panache. The double rooms are decorated with local fabrics and antique furniture, and the dorms are the stuff of guidebook legend, filled with character and free from dust. There's a good-sized shared kitchen and a wealth of information on the area to hand.

Their seven waterfalls tour (US$20 per person) is recommended.
