This large-scale camp 24km north of Marsa Alam offers a range of accommodation from tents to deluxe chalets, and spectacular snorkelling and diving on the house reef, as well as a full dive centre. Marsa Shagra was one of the first eco-minded places on the Red Sea and, despite the development around it, has stayed true to its sustainable-tourism credentials.
Among this outfit's many initiatives have been successful efforts to create national parks, bringing local Bedouin into tourism as guides and helping conservation groups clean up local beaches.
