Central Highlands
This 150-year-old converted hacienda is a convenient base for playing around Ilinizas, Corazón and Cotopaxi. Dorm beds and cozy private rooms, some with fireplaces, are available, as are a great restaurant, an ark’s worth of friendly farm animals and even friendlier hosts, who arrange tours, guides and horseback riding.
It’s located 500m west of the Panamericana, down a turnoff 1km south of the Machachi tollbooth; call ahead for a pickup from Machachi or El Chaupi village.
