At the northern end of the beach, overlooking the sand, the only microbrewery on Ecuador's coast serves up Amazonian IPA, chocolate stout, blackberry, jalapeno and passion-fruit blondes, and tropical ciders (mango, lime, ginger) – all fresh out of the keg. It doesn't export these top-notch brews, so you can only experience them in Montañita.
There's live music most weekends, including everything from jazz bands to classical concerts. The next-door restaurant serves sushi, which you can enjoy with your pint.
