Sitting on the beach in front of a surf break, Kundalini was once nothing more than a thatch-roofed building set out on a lawn with four rooms. Now it's a smart tropical-themed 22-room hostel/boutique hotel, including a top beachside restaurant and exceptionally finished rooms with bamboo headboards.
The grounds have well-kept lawns, bordered by hedges and palm trees, with hammocks and brightly colored sun loungers for relaxing. Free yoga lessons take place weekly, and guests can hire surfboards (two hours $5).
